What did you learn from the story?

Why is this an important story? What can we learn from the characters and the situations of this book?
Remember to explain your thinking thoroughly and relate your ideas back to the text. There is no 'right' or 'wrong' answer to this post as we will all have a different idea as to what we think Suzanne Collins message in this story is.

  2. I think the main message in the novel the Hunger Games is teamwork, perseverance and courage. I think teamwork is one of the main ideas because sometime in your life your going to need someone there beside you to keep on going. The second main idea I think is perseverance because Katniss wanted to make it home to her mother and Prim by winning the Games and coming home. And last but not least courage. I think courage is a really strong one because you need to take changes in life and get the best out of them.

  3. I have learned that you should not be shy and say your thoughts, opinions of what you think about what is happening like what katniss thinks really pour of the hunger games like they are killing young kids for no reason. so katniss should tell the capital what she really thinks about the hunger games.

  4. I think the main message is love because Katniss has to take care of her family Prim and her mother. Katniss would kill for her family because they had to survive and she did it because she loves them. There are different kind of love? like Katniss and Peeta they're love is like they wont to kiss and stuff like that thats why i think that its love.

  5. What I learned from the story is to never give up in what you believe in and to persevere when the times get rough like in world war 2 some people made it out alive because they didnt give up and persevered like Katniss did when she got stung by the Tracker Jackers she didn’t give up she persevered and made through that rough time. Also when Peeta got cut by Cato he didn’t give up he did his best and tried his hardest to stay alive and they both didn't give up.

  6. I learned from the story, that in life you'll have problems, sometimes you'll get through them, sometimes you won't. Like when Katniss, had a problem when she had no food and the boy with the bread, gave her bread to survive. I think the book is important because, maybe some people don't know what life is about, or what will happen in life. I also learned that the characters in the book, have a hard life because people are putting them down, and they can't do what they want to do.

  7. I think this an important book because Suzanne Collins tells us to not take the things we have for granted, like food, because there are other people that have worse lives then we think. Everyday, in places like Africa or Haiti, people starve and die from diseases they cant cure because they have no money for Doctors. Katniss is like one of the poor people because she lives in District 12 and can't really afford anything because she doesn't have any money so she has to pick herbs and go hunting for her family in order for her and her family to survive.

  8. I think Suzanne Collins main message is about war and hunger because we see it in many different ways from TV shows to realty. These are the ways that we see war and hunger but some times we seen them together. On TV shows we don't see kids fighting to the death.

  9. I learned in the book The Hunger Games is that not to give up on what you believe because if you do, you give up on yourself! In the book Katniss believes that The Capital is trying to over power everyone in the districts but at the end of the Games Katniss shows the Capital shes not under their power and stands up for what she believes, and put the berries in her mouth to kill both her and Peeta, so there is no victor. If she did kill Peeta she would be backing down from the Capital and showing them she thinks they are to powerful, and thats what they want her to believe.

  10. I think that The Hunger Games main message is team work and to stand up for yourself. I think one of them is stand up for yourself because Katniss almost stood them up and ppretty much almost made no one win the games. I think its team work because in the end Katniss and Peeta had to work together to survive and at the beginning and the midde Katniss and Rue work togther (well before Rue died)

  11. I agree with Magan i think the main message is team work i think that because when Peeta was hurt Katniss would help him to move arround.
And when Katniss was hurt Peeta would help her like check up on her every time when she was a sleep for two days

  12. I think T.H.G is a important story because it shows that people can stand up to other more stronger/powerful people, but you have to have the courage to do that. That's what we can learn (our class) that we can stand up to those people who think that they more power and can abuse other people. I have learned from Katniss that the Capital can't take over her desicions, like how she and Peeta were going to eat those berries the gamemakers re-concidered that new rule about 2 people in the same district winning. So if Katniss had not thought of that, the Gamemakers would take over her decisions on how she was going to win with Peeta

  13. I think this is an important story because it teaches you that no matter what people think or say you can do anything if you set your mind to it just like Katniss did in the book when she set her mind to winning the hunger games and she did because she set her mind to winning.

  15. I learned that Suzanne Collins is trying to teach us that we should not overlook problems in our world and try to solve problems in our world so that the world is equal. Its just like third world country’s and how we more fortunate country’s can do something about it and make everything more equal to everyone. Like how Katniss hates the Capitol and try s to do something about it by almost ruining the hunger games

  16. This book "T.H.G" is important because it gets you thinking about what the future might be like and we can have the opportunity to stop it before it comes true so we don't have to live it because in my opinion I really don't wont to see it or even be in it.

  17. What I learned from the story is to never give up in what you believe in and to persevere when the times get tough. For example in world war 2 some people made it out alive because they didn’t give up and persevered by listening and keeping there spirits high and believing they would make it out instead of fight and dying, like Katniss did when she got stung by the Tracker Jackers she didn’t give up she persevered and made through that rough time. Also when Peeta got cut by Cato he didn’t give up he did his best and tried his hardest to stay alive and they both didn't give up because they wanted to make it home to there family friends and loved ones to be with them.

  18. What I learned from the book “the Hunger Games” is that life is full of unexpected twist. Such as, in the story when Katniss had no idea that she would be playing in the Hunger Games, but next thing Katniss knew she was on her way to the arena. People can learn a lot from Katniss. The way she handled her fathers death, taking care of her whole family by herself, and making sure her family and herself had enough food in there stomachs. Katniss had no warning about her fathers death, or that she would be playing in the Hunger Games herself. But did Katniss ever break down? Did she for one second doubt herself? No! Katniss stayed strong! She fought for herself and her family. She never let life’s unexpected twists let her down she just came back stronger as ever before! When something horrible happened she made the best of the situation and Katniss didn’t stand for any nonsense she spoke her mind and became better then ever. When Rue died Katniss stayed there till she passed on and after that Katniss became way stronger then ever before and that gave her the nerve to win the Games!

  19. I learned that in life you'll have problems and you will get through them.
Like when Katniss was starving and the boy with the bread gave her some to eat
because I think he felt sorry for her or he seen . This story is important because we read it and it was amazing. Well we can learn from the characters that we can be friendly, loyalty, etc. I can relate to this book because when I seen some someone
at the fair and it looked like they were thirsty and lost so I gave her money to buy a drink and then she found her mom standing someone where they buy drinks and food.
