My thought and feeling on T.H.G novel

My feelings about the hunger games are different ten when we first started the book because i thought that the book was all about surviving but now i think that to survive you need to be smart, brave and determined to win then you will win. My favourite person in the hunger games is Katniss because shes brave smart and she made it through the hunger games

Denzils post hommie 8)

MOST INTENSE PART/ FAVE CHARACTER

I think the most intense moment in the book of 'The Hunger Games' was when Rue died, I had like tears in my eyes.. She lost. If Katniss didn't make it, she wanted Rue to win.
I have 2 favourite characters, Rue and Katniss.. I love the way Katniss acted, & how Rue survived long as she could. Those are my 2 favourite characters.

This story is important because it shows that theirs too much violence in the world and we have to stop it like in T.H.G how its all violence. We can stop anything if we try are best like Katniss stops The Hunger Games.

INTENSE MOMENTS!!!

I think the most intense moment of T.H.G was at the end when all the dogs came and tryed killing all Peeta Cato and Katniss and cought Cato.
My favourite character in T.H.G is probably Peeta because i can relate to him bye always lifting big heavy thing

By:
Tylerr :P

INTENSE!!!

The most intense part in The Hunger Games was when Thresh crushed Cloves skull by a stone because he thought that Clove was the one that killed Rue.
My favourite charachter in the Games is Gale because I found that he has alot of humor in him because in the begining af the book I read that he had put an arrow in the center of the bread that he had got from the bakers shop. The main reason I think that Gale is so cool is because I found that me and Gale have a lot in common.

Kale Greer

MOST INTENSE PART IN THE BOOK!

The most intense part of the story I thought was when the fire was chasing the tributes to the centre of the Battlefield.
                                BRYN.A XD

INTENSE

the most intense moment for me was when Katniss,Peeta and Cato had to run from the mutts because it was mysterious if Katniss was going to win or not. My favourite Character was Thresh because he was strong and smart and didnt kill Katniss when he could of.

DAWSON XD

My Good information

The most intense moment that I read in the book is when Katniss and Peeta had there first kiss because that was the most important thin to hatpin to me because I know for a fact that this is an important cage for Katniss. (she starts caging her personality even more now.) My most favourite character is peeta because he is brave and he is good at decorating so he camouflage himself to protect himself. I can relate to Katniss because she can clime trees and I like to clime too.

My Most Intense !!!!!!!!!!

My most intense moment is when Katniss, Peeta and Cato were running away from the dog's that were actually the dead competitors from earlier in the Games. That was my most intense moment because it was very exciting and because the districts were beside each other and they weren't killing each other because of the dog's. My favourite character is Thresh because he was very dangerous but at the same giving and kind because he let Katniss live and killed Clove when Clove was going to kill Katniss. I can not relate to any of the characters because they live and act totally different then me.

TEAM RUE!! yeah i like rue!! shes coooool

My favorite character is Rue! I don't know just something about her... actually I think its how I think of her because I was 11 last year just like Rue and what if that was me in The Hunger Games fighting for my life!! So I guess shes the character I can relate most to and shes really clever because for a little girl like her, she can find her way around!
The MOST INTENSE part in the book was when Rue got a spear right though her stomach! but the word choice and details that Suzanna Collins put into her book made me find all of it was intense but Rues death was the most intense! Like that was really emotional for me because I was relating her to me! but when I watched the movie clip I was actually crying!!

Watch the clip maybe you will feel my pain!!

My Favourite things about the book!!!!!

I think my favourite part in the book the Hunger Games is when Katniss had to dodge all the fireballs! It was so intense!Suzanne Collins explained this part amazingly I could really sense the fear in katniss voice and by the way that Suzanne Collins she explained it I got a very clear picture in my head. If I was in that some sort of situation I would be acting like Katniss I would be freaking out hoping that they won't hit me. My favourite character in the book is well its hard to pick just one but it would probably be Peeta he is so mysterious and it's hard to find out what he's thinking about, but I can really relate to him because sometimes I can be to myself and just keep all my thoughts to me and no one else. Katniss sometimes had to guess what Peeta was thinking. Although sometimes he has a lot to say. Also. Peeta seems very clever. Like in the book when he camouflaged him self! I had a feeling he would be one of the winners because he was always sneaky, clever, and saw things others didn't.

-ally!!

my favourite book

My favourite character is Katniss Everdeen because she is brave and she is like a mother to her little sister Prim.Katniss doesn't truth her mother anymore because after her father died her mother let Katniss and Prim down now Katniss hunts to put food on the table. she is brave because she is protecting Peeta from getting hurt in the Games.

Smantha M

This Book Is So Amazing!

The part that i think was intense to me in the book was when Peeta and Katniss was being chased by those big scary wolf like things and Peeta almost got dragged down from the horn of the Cornucopia by one of the Mutts My most favorite character from The Hunger Games book would have to be Katniss because she's always energetic and very skilled with the bow and arrow .

Chelsea

So Intense..

I think the most intense moment of the book was when Rue had got caughten by the boy from District 1.. I thought it was the most intense moment because Rue had died, she was Katniss's partner to get through T.H.G, she was the one who saved Katniss's life when the tracker jackers who right above her head on the tree branches. My most favourite character is Katniss because she is really loving about the people she cares about, so she takes care of the people when their hurt exactly like Peeta when he had got cut by Cato. I can't really relate to anybody in T.H.G.

; Great News. ;)

I think the most intense part of the book was for me was when Rue died because she was just an innocent little girl and she got a spear into her stomach.
My favourite character of this book is Katniss Everdeen. Because shes brave, caring &
very strong.
I can relate to the boy with the bread because when he gave Katniss some bread because he probably knew she was starving and I saw this girl at the fair and she looked thirsty and lost so I went up to her and starting talking and I asked her are you thirsty? And she said “yes, I am” so I bought her a drink and her mother was standing there next to the place where they buy drinks and food etc.

`Miriam.

Intensly AWESOME!!

My favourite character is Katniss Everdeen because she is really epic. I just love her (not literally) and the part I thought was really intense was the part where Peeta was really infected and Katniss didn't want to clean it because she thought it was gross. Eventualy she had to or else Peeta would've died, so she helped. It was pretty INTENSE!

Kelsay :P

My Feelings

My most intense moment is when Katniss shot the arrow in the throat of that boy from District 1. I think it was the most intense moment because it got my blood flowing and it was pretty shocking. My favourite character was Katniss because she wasn't afraid of anything and was the kind of person that would do everything.

Dude Dude Dude Awsomeness

OMG I cant even picka fave charicter I think it would have to be Effie Trinket because I love her acsent even though I never realy heard her acsent. I dont know what it is I think it is because she is so diffrent and try so hard. Also I think the most intense moment was when Katniss heard the game makers say that Prim was chosen to go to the hunger games.

Most Intense Moment and My Favourite Character!!!!!!!!

My favourite character from the book is Katniss! She is my favourite character because she is brave and not afraid to try something! She is also my favourite because she stood up to the Capital. I think that when she stood up to the Capital she was very brave because the Capital has the power over everyone! I think the most intense moment for me was when Katniss dashed through flaming  the forest! I think that was an intense moment because she risked her life just to go through a flaming forest.

What i learned :)

I think the main idea in the book is that you should put your family first. Instead of other things like playing black ops or something else. Family is way more important than other things. You should be happy with the family that you have.
Rodrick XD
What I learned from the book “the Hunger Games” is that life is full of unexpected twist. Such as, in the story when Katniss had no idea that she would be playing in the Hunger Games, but next thing Katniss knew she was on her way to the arena. People can learn a lot from Katniss. The way she handled her fathers death, taking care of her whole family by herself, and making sure her family and herself had enough food in there stomachs. Katniss had no warning about her fathers death, or that she would be playing in the Hunger Games herself. But did Katniss ever break down? Did she for one second doubt herself? No! Katniss stayed strong! She fought for herself and her family. She never let life’s unexpected twists let her down she just came back stronger as ever before! When something horrible happened she made the best of the situation and Katniss didn’t stand for any nonsense she spoke her mind and became better then ever. When Rue died Katniss stayed there till she passed on and after that Katniss became way stronger then ever before and that gave her the nerve to win the Games!

Here is a video from the Hunger Games movie:

~Ally!!

What I learned from The Hunger Games.

I think the main message in The Hunger Games is not to be greedy and be happy for what we have and where we live, I think that because in The Hunger Games they take 1 boy and 1 girl from each district to fight to the death , I think we should be thankful for where we live because we don't get forced to go to War or anything like that do we? I think we should be happy for what we have because in The Hunger Games we are like the Capitol , and the people in the districts are like people in Third World Countries.Look at it this way if the Districts had what The Capitol had they would be equaly powerful. - Sam Shmanka

what I learnd XD

I think that this an important story because it shows that life is full of obstacles and all we can do is do are best to get through it like Katniss did in T.H.G . we can learn that anything can be done if you put head to it like how Katniss and Peeta out smarted the Capital.

DO NOT DELTE its EMILYS

I learned in the book The Hunger Games is to not to give up on what you believe because if you do, you give up on yourself! In the book Katniss believes that The Capital is trying to over power everyone in the districts but at the end of the Games Katniss shows the Capital shes not under their power and stands up for what she believes, and put the berries in her mouth to kill both her and Peeta, so there is no victor, if there is no victor it embarrasses the Capital but If she did kill Peeta she would be backing down from the Capital and showing them she thinks they are to powerful, and thats what they want her to believe.

OMG!! this is a clip from The Hunger Games MOVIEE!
i think the hunger games is like reality tv because it is televised and people watch as if its the normal thing to do and it has a game host and it shows people doing stupid or unessary stuff

alex

thoughts on the book.

I think that the book was good in the second and third part but part one i guess ws kind of boring because there was like to action or adventure or violence at all i liked part three and part two because there was action and sorta of alot of killing which i am sorta used to because i play C.O.D and there is alot of violence is in there but overall the book was great and i would like to see the movie as soon as it comes theaters in dryden although i think the movie might ruin the book because the book is  always better that the movie.

Whats The Point?

The comparitions

We chouse to wach realty tv ,I`m not to sure why but we do , but all of Panam does`nt have a choice to wach the hunger games. Most of the people in reality tv shows pick if they want to go on the show but trbutes from the districs are forced to join the hunger games.

Thoughts of the book!!!!!!

I thought that I liked the book because it was very action packed and exciting but part one I thought was kind of boring and wasn't any thing to really get excited about, so thought she could of got into the actual games and fighting a bit quicker or put something exciting or that gets you into the book, but overall it was a pretty good book. My opinion didn’t really change after the book was over.

My thoughts about T.H.G Book

Wow this book is amazing  my opinion changed when we finished the book  i felt really scared  because peeta and katniss were being ambushed by these big harry and menasing  mutts  witch were trying to obliterate them also  there was that one part when  i felt surprized at the end of the book when katniss found out that peeta 's leg was replaced with a metal one also i was really happy because peeta and katniss were the victors

Chelsea :D

ITS RELATING TIME! :D

I think Reality T.V shows and The Hunger Games can really relate to each other because in the T.V show Jersey Shore, do you think they really look that way when they are not on T.V? Usually every second  they are on T.V they have there make up on and dressed all up and on The Hunger Games after the games in the last two chapters when Katniss say " My skin was perfectly smooth not a scar or bruise." because The Capital always has to look good in front of the other districts to tell them that they are in charge and  the Jersey Shore cast has to always look like the best!

~Emily xD

The Hunger Games!!!

I personally think that the Hunger Games relates to reality TV because every moment they are televised and every district back home is watching (not that they have a choice) and they people in the Hunger Games never get any privacy. On reality TV the directors thrive for exiting and big events to happen, such as the games makers on the Hunger Games when they throw stuff in the games so more action can proceed.

Reality T.V vs The Hunger Games

When reading The Hunger Games what most reminded me of reality t.v is that the are both telivised and you can see and hear what they are doing in both The Hunger Games and Reality T.V. Another thing why they are alike is that they both have hosts on the shows and in The Hunger Games (well most t.v shows have a host).

Megan

The banned book in the us

My feelings have changed. Peeta didn’t know that Haymitch was coaching Katniss.

Before that happen Katniss was the one that didn’t know that Peeta has a new leg. She felt like it was her fault. Peeta said it is her fault that he is alive.

SAMANTHA M

The Inside Scoop On Reality TV

When I read the hunger games the thing that reminds me the most aboug reality TV is that they are both telivised so you can see everything they do in the reality show and the hunger games.

    - Elisha

TV

I think that the Games is reality TV for the people in the book because they laugh and cheer thruoghout the whole thing wnen there's an " exciting part " like when there's a fight to the death or someone kills somebody in their sleep just like when people in my class watch Jersey Shore or something like that they come back to school any their like "Did you see that part when somebody and somebody got in a fight and they had to go to the hospital!"
Devon

T.V and The Hunger Games

Reality T.V compares to the Games because sometimes people make T.V shows that relate back to the Games and it has the same idea and purpose.

Reece

Changes in the hunger games

I thought the book The hunger Games was really good because how Katniss had to hunt for her family and had to take care of her mother because Katniss dad died in district 13 in a horrible death I thought that was about violence.
That changed a little bit to family because Katniss had to hunt for her family because her mother was shocked that there father died and Prim is not a good hunter. So that why Katniss had to take care of her family. But when she got home after hunting if she got some thing her mother helped with cooking a little bit that’s why I thought it was family
The final change was love because Katniss and Peeta were madly in love and they kissed all the time and they would take care of each other if some thing was wrong and they would snuggle at night for warm and to show each others love.
Reality T.V and The Hunger Games are alike becasue they both have

Reality TV Helps Us a Lot! NOT!

Reality TV is similar to The Hunger Games because I read that reality TV is FAR from everyday, like in The Hunger Games how you don't see people from the districts fighting everyday. They both are wasting time putting stupid things on the TV and have nothing better to do because they are bored. The Capitol is too powerful to even do something helpful. Just like our world, the people who make the stupid reality TV shows cant even bother doing anything helpful to others and they make us see different sides of different stories like The Hunger Games how at the end, they didn't show the districts the part where Katniss berried Rue in the pretty flowers.

Kelsay :P

Reality TV and The Hunger Games

I think reality TV is just like T.H.G because reality TV show people in all moods and T.H.G shows Katniss and every one else in all the moods they go through. There also alike because they both have a game or a purpose to been show in the T.H.G their meant for entertainment and to remind people that the Capitol rules Panem. Reality TV shows are usually meant for entertainment and to see how long people can do something hard under stress.

Dawson

Both Events are Comparable. Well to me.

It compares to each other because both things (T.H.G and The survival show) are practically the same thing because The survival show has people that have to survive in the wilderness with no supplies or anything exactly like The Hunger Games.. All the kids that had gotten picked in the reaping had nothing when she went into the stadium but the people on The Survival Show can find stuff to survive like fish, animals, shelter, caves.. Exactly like Katniss. The other thing that is comparable is both events get money in the end.. So it's a win-win for both. Also for both things people think of an excuse just to watch the reality show but on T.H.G everybody has to watch it, so practically everyone can or has to watch both events on T.V. The only thing that isn't comparable is how in T.H.G kids have to kill each other just to win, survive, get supplies such a food/shelter etc. Also the other thing that isn't comparable is the people that go on The Survival Show want to go on it just to get the money, but the kids on T.H.G have no choice but to go to it and risk their lives to live and win.

~Kiara

`Confused ?...

I personally think that the book was pretty awesome and emotional at the same time.
Because at the beginning of the book they introduced Prim and Katniss dad that he died in the mine and when Rue died in chapter eighteen by a spear in her stomach. I was also speechless in the ending because when Peeta had feelings for her, he was inlove with her I think but she doesnt really know how she feels about him because of Gale to. So shes kind of "CONFUSED," who does she really want though?

; Miriam xD

My Feelings did change!!!!!!!!!!!

My feelings did change with peeta because hey finaly came back in to the story when he said he liked katniss
like half way through the story then peeta got shot in the leg.
By:Dylan

Wow.. I'm speechless..

My opinions about the book; when we started reading this book, I thought it would take a long time but, it didn't. When we became to the middle I was really enjoying it, but when we came to the end. I never wanted it to end. I absolutely loved the book. Every time we stop, I wanted to read more and more!
Also, My feelings about the book changed as well.. My thoughts and feelings in the beginning, were like I didn't know the characters as well as I do now. In the middle, I started to know them better than the beginning. But, in the end.. I know how they feel and who they are. I can relate to most of them.

- Shoshonee. c:

How do you feel about This book?

I thought the book was really cool in the last two Parts in the first part i didn’t really care about it there wasn’t any action or anything good only like family love and that stuff.

The second part ( The Games ) was pretty good because they were in the games and reading about how they survived was really legit. In the end of the third part when Katniss and Peeta got out of the arena was kinda confusing because it sounded like Peeta didn’t like Katniss any more.

By Tyler.

The best book in the whole wide world

I personally loved the book it was my most favourite book in the whole wide world and it is all thanks to Ms.Ferriolo for reading and introducing the book to me. My thoughts about the book is that it is perfect and i wouldn’t change a thing about it it gives me the best feeling in the world when I read It, because the writer Suzanne Collins had you in suspense the whole time you never know when there is a kill behind the corner or a little romance. Also it was really emotional at the end of the book when i was telling the class what i thought about the last chapter I almost started crying because Peeta found out that Katniss was only pretending to be in love with him because Haymitch thought that in result of pretending to be in love with each other they could win the games, witch was the best strategy in the world except to Peeta it wasn’t a strategy it was reality. The second we finished the book i went to the library to look for the next one catching fire but unfortunately they didn’t have a copy available so i will have to wait until my class mate is done reading it so then i can I’m so excited.

My opinion did change through out the book because I never thought that the hunger games would end the way it did it really surprised me. Do you think that deep down inside that Katniss really has feelings for Peeta.
  - Elisha

SO EMOTIONAL!!!!!!!!

Wow so emotional!!! I have mixed emotions , I am so happy but mad and sad at the same time because to me it feels like the best thing that has happened is over but I am happy we are done the book and I finally got to read the ending. I hate that feeling of where your doing something you really like but then it ends and you never want it to ,does any one see what I am trying to say?. I love the book I wish it wasn't over. I really hope I get to read the second book. I thought the book wasn't going to engage me , I was so wrong I don't like adventure or killing books like that, but soon as we got into the whole Hunger Game I was into it I wanted to read ahead far ahead. I loved it A LOT. I can't stand the ending though , it leaves with so many unanswered questions, its leaving me hanging off a cliff. I am so happy Katniss gets to go back and see her sister Prim and her mother and Gale.

~ Alex

OKAY TIME FOR BOOK #2!!

While I was reading this book I felt as though I had to keep reading it was that good! I just really wanted to know what was next also it was so action packed and adventuress! I loved reading this book and I would read it over again just for fun or to have even more understanding on the book! My opinion on the book never changed at the end but how ever my over all message did! I would really like to read the rest of the of the series.

~Emily xD

Realtiy T.V to The Hunger Games By:dawson

I think reality TV is just like T.H.G because

Was It a Act or The Real Deal ?

I really hope we will get a chance to read the second book in The Hunger Games series. I love how the ending make me think and makes me wonder so much more, but in a way it makes me mad that it ends like that , the book is so amazing but then it ends so suddenly! My thought defiantly changed now that the book is over. I cant believe at the beginning I thought the T.H.G were dumb but now i really want to know whats going to happen to Peeta and Katness when they get back to District 12. So much thoughts are running threw my head whats going to happen when she sees Gale, Prim or maybe even her mother! When the book first stared I did not like Peeta at all and I did not know why he was even in the book at all , but now that we finished the book i am really fond of the star-crossed lover act, I think it was smart for Haymitch , for always being drunk and all.

Steph

AWESOME BOOK!!!!!! :)

OMG! This book was absolutely amazing to read, there were all sorts of different messages its hard to pick one. My opinion about the topic of the book when we first starting reading was that it was about family. But when we got further in the book I now realize it was more than just family but love, loyalty, power, freedom and survival. Those were the most used topics in the whole book. I thought, Power, because the Capitol has control over every district and has the most power in all the districts. Freedom, because at the beginning of the book Katniss and Gale wanted to run away and be free of all the control over the districts. Anyways, these are my opinions on the book “The Hunger Games”.

~Ally!! :D

Didn't Really Expect That...

OH MY GOODNESS. This book The Hunger Games is like the most BEST book that I have ever read since The Twilight Saga!! My feelings about this book are phenomenal! I kinda had all different emotions while reading it.. First I was sad because about the part when Rue died, and when Thresh had given her a chance to live but then he died from Cato. My second emotion was kinda happy because Katniss and Peeta had beat Cato and won The Hunger Games like I expected in the beginning. There has been lots opinions in my head from start to finish in this book, first at the beginning I didn't really know what The Hunger Games were until they got into where all the action was happening.. Yes my opinion did change after the book ended because The Hunger Games were over and I don't really know whats going to happen on in the future if it all ended and they won..

~Kiara

My Feeling's Did Change About The Book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My overall reaction was like OMG WHATTTTT!!! then by the end of the book it changed becuase i thout like wow they both made it as in peeta and katniss when they kissed throughout the book i was still like omg wat? because i thought katniss liked peeta even tho a kiss = a pot of broth i didn't think that she would kiss PEETA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was LIKE OMG

When we finished the H.G I was amazed how good the book was towards the middle (when Katniss was prepping for the games) I thought the book was getting boring. My opinion totally change when Katniss form an alliance with Rue. Until then I was not looking forward to reading the book but the erupted with fights and gruesome battles. I thought at the end though the left you hanging and left lots of questions unanswered.

How My Feelings And Thoughts Changed Big Time!!

While reading the book I felt sad at some parts and some other parts I had pictures in my head and I sometimes felt like I was actually watching the games from District 12. I felt like that because that's what I do sometimes when I am reading books. My opinion changed as we got further into the book because at first when we started reading the book it was really hard to get through the first part (well that's what I think). But after we got into the second and the third part my opinion changed because we were getting into the games and there was more happening in the second and third part then, there was in the first part.

Megan

Who Would've Known

I personally feel that it was a VERY AMAZING book. It is so awesome! I definitely want to read the two other books, Catching Fire and Mocking Jay! At first, when my sister explained how the book is good i thought it wouldn't be a very good book, but until we actually read it, I was amazed. It is so detailed and makes my emotions go from terrified to thrilled. It is like the book was meant for me to read!

Kelsay :P

My final thoughts !!!!!!

The Best Book Ever

My overall reaction was OMG I have never read such a great book. I felt like the Games was happening to me. My opinion of the book changed when Katniss fell in love with Peeta. The opinion that I had before Katniss loved Peeta was this book isn’t that good.

Feelings & Change

We've finished the book! I love all that this book has to offer and I always learn something new everytime I read it.
Let's start the conversation with getting your overall reaction to the book. Briefly describe how you felt while reading the book. Did your opinion of the book change after you finished it?

Reality TV & The Hunger Games

Reality TV shows have quickly become all the rage. Who hasn't sat and watched seemingly normal people be utterly humiliated in front of an audience of millions on national TV? With the humongous popularity of reality TV, society has been greatly affected, in both good and bad ways. Suzanne Collins, author of The Hunger Games, was actually inspired to write this young adult novel, in part, by watching reality TV.
Today,  using the resources provided, you will research reality TV and compare your findings to the ficticious Hunger Games.

You will follow the links below this post. Make notes in an Open Office document as you go through the information.
Write your response as a post so that others can comment on your ideas and opinions. If you choose to upload a video or add a link of your own be sure to explain what the link is about. Remember to refer to the rubric provided to ensure you get a level 3 or 4!

How does the information about reality TV compares with what happens in The Hunger Games? You can also include any opinions about reality TV from our discussion in class. Compare and contrast the similarities and differences.

Let's get the conversation going and..."may the odds be ever in your favour."
WOAH!! i didn't know that C.O.D was that bad!! but i totally agree that violence in video games and in T.V has people desensitized to what real violence is going on the the media!(here is to answer your question Kiara) Also i don't know why (well i know why) school libraries would ban the book it is amazing! Yes, its a a little violent but it is a great learning experience for kids to learn what kind of violence it actually is going on but.......again the desensitization from video games and T.V. I'm kind of repeating my self and you Ms.Ferriolo. OHH it all comes together does anyone else see what I'm getting at?

The Hunger Games vs. Video Games Violence

Video games are addicting; so addicting that people of all ages can't seem to tear themselves away from their X-Box or other gaming system. I recently heard that a group you guys spent a huge amount of time, like I'm talking hours, playing Call of Duty over last weekend. Personally, I think that's crazy and I hate video games especially ones where you blow things up and kill people. When I was your age (way long ago) what was popular was Mario and Super Mario and Tetris... wow how times have changed; virtually violence free. I wanted to find out some information about C.O.D and its popularity so I did some research. Turns out there are blogs, wikis, chat groups, facebook pages, you name it on everything related to C.O.D online. I can't believe this games popularity! Why is a game about killing people so popular? I was totally shocked to read one person's idea about why C.O.D was created; to recruit people for the American army. Is that even true? Then I got to thinking are we a society, or are you kids a generation where you think violence is acceptable? How can you mindlessly sit in front of a t.v screen blowing things up?! Please don't tell me you think it's fun. Then this got me thinking about The Hunger Games. Is it realistic to say that the violence in Call of Duty or any other video game is comparable to The Hunger Games? I mean everyone in Panem and the districts celebrate the Games even though they are so, so wrong and stop their lives just to watch the games, much like many of you stopped your life over last weekend just to play a game! Not to mention the exreme amount of violence in the novel. Kids killing kids; it doesn't get more violent than that. I think the advertisers and creators of C.O.D have power and control over a mass amount of people much like the Capitol has power and control over Panem, the tributes and people in the districts. Do the people in the Capitol know or think what they are doing is wrong? Or do they think what they are doing is perfectly acceptable? Do you think the creators of Call of Duty and the adveristers think all that violence is acceptable? Do you think Suzanne Collins created the Hunger Games series for the same or different reasons than the creators of C.O.D? I mean what if their own kids thought violence is acceptable because they play it on a game? Do you agree with Suzanne Collins when she says we are becoming desensitized towards violence in our lives and in the media?
In addition to this I recently heard that The Hunger Games has come under attack and in many schools across the United States the book (and the other books in the series) has been banned from school libraries because of it's portrayal of violence among children and youth. Do you feel this is a justified complaint? When is violence entertainment? When is violence just violence?
